Jan. 19th, 2011 10:53 pm- I just went to see the Green Hornet with my parents. It was quite good! ( Cut for vague spoilers and thoughts )
- Oh God, Tom Stade, why? For those who don't know, Tom Stade is a fairly little-known comedian who I love. I saw him a couple of years ago on Michael Macintyre's Comedy Roadshow, and then I saw a live show of his in Nottingham, and then I saw a show of his with Cakesy in London. And he's always had some jokes that I'm not completely comfortable with, but I really do find him funny a lot of the time. But I just today got an email from a comedy mailing list I'm on about a secret gig of his, and they called him "Frankie Boyle's right hand man". I have looked into it. Apparently he co-wrote and appeared in Frankie Boyle's recent TV show Tramadol Nights, which I avoided. And, I just. Why? Except that now I feel like I can't really be angry with him for it or judge him for it, because I haven't seen the show, so I don't know exactly what was on it. But I do know he was writing a thing with Frankie Boyle, and apparently they and the other writers would sometimes sit down and think things like "'What the fuck we can write that will piss absolutely everyone off?'" Which doesn't really tally with his earlier claim that nothing they say is an attack, because it's not an attack, is just an idea they talk about. Whatever Tom Stade. God. I do really like a lot of his stand up, and his delivery and stuff. There's another article where he says that "Guys like [Michael Macintyre], they all take the road of not offending one person...I like to tread the line, sometimes...it's good to challenge people's perceptions.", which at least sounds at lot less wanky than the other stuff he was saying about writing with Frankie Boyle. I just. God, I really like him. I don't know why he has to keep hurting me.
I'm sure he's actually funny, and not just a wanker. I'm sure he's a bit of a wanker, in previous things I've seen, but wasn't just a wanker. Oh my God. - In other, happier news, I got my period yesterday, so it really is a good thing I got my prescription of Mefenamic Acid. And it even came in weird, funky hot pink boxes. None of that was a bad thing.
- Also, I have been using the Lush solid deodorant lately. Between my mum telling me using aerosol deodorants too much can cause breast cancer, apparently, and worrying about CFCs, and not really knowing how to recycle empty aerosol cans properly, I kind of gave up using it a few months or so ago. To my parents' distaste. But I asked for some Lush stuff for Christmas, and my mum said she got a free sample of their deodorant with it, so put that in with them. And I have been using it, and it totally works! Apparently it is made with bicarbonate of soda, which is a smell that makes me want to throw up if I smell it too much, but if I only use a bit of it, it's not too bad. So. It's a recommendation from me, if anyone else was interested in changing deodorant for whatever reason. It's probably ridiculously expensive. But it does work.
