I CAN'T STAND LEANNE.
I CANNOT STAND HER.
Why the fuck is she banging on about Peter 'abandoning' Simon when she was talking about taking custody off him (forever? temporarily somehow?) and what a terrible father he was and how Simon was better off without him just last week? And banging on about it is one thing, but actually consigning Peter to jail without even, like, talking to him about it - and maybe letting him know he definitely didn't do it, if he can't remember - just because she thinks he deserves it? Oh my God.
Why is Carla getting yelled at for screaming at Frank's mum while extremely upset, while Carla - a rape victim - is getting regularly sneered at and called a homewrecker just as a matter of course?
And there was a thing with Kylie earlier in the week where she complained about having to pay for school dinners for Max, and then offered to 'take orders' for him and his friends, but at least they made that slightly less ridiculous by having her charge the kids money for it. Even so, the storyline is often just veering into out-and-out fat jokes. As well as being slightly pointless, because as for as I can tell, neither Kylie nor Brian even really care that much about it. Whatever.
But mostly I hate Leanne and I hate her face and I hate her mum's voice. And her mum is the landlady of the Rovers, so her voice is impossible to avoid if you watch Coronation Street at all.
Yesterday David was briefly in a few scenes, and today Maria turned up, and it was sort of like being able to breathe again. Well no, it wasn't that dramatic. But it was weirdly good considering all I was doing was seeing them.
Maybe I just shouldn't watch Coronation Street if all I'm just going to be annoyed by it. Oh, and Mary - who I'm a bit in and out on most of the time anyway - suddenly had an out of the blue speech about, essentially, population control, which she's never mentioned before. And used it to try to guilt trip a pregnant woman. I don't know what else she was expecting to gain? I really don't even know why she said it. It wasn't even one of those slightly-obnoxious conversations she and Norris sometimes have at inappropriate moments, she actually seemed angry about it and put on a weird accent. She put on Sylvia's accent. And the whole thing was terrible. What the fuck? Why?
