I had tuna fishcakes for tea tonight, but when I got them they were a bit cool. Mum made them so I assumed they'd just been left out for a little while when she was doing other things. It only occurred to me after a while that they'd been frozen, and might just not have been cooked through properly. So now I'm concerned about the food poisoning. Still eating though.

Things that have happened lately that I took note of:

  • Microsoft have apparently dropped or debunked a bunch of the features in the Xbox One that everyone was furious about, which is probably for the best. The camera and microphone that watches you all the time can apparently be switched off in the menu - if you remember to do that; you can trade in and play used games, but only with 'selected retailers'; and the fact that it was going to need to 'check in' with the Microsoft online servers once every 24 hours or it wouldn't let you play offline, which they seemed adamant about, has now apparently been changed. That last fact is pretty good, since it apparently pissed off every army in the world. I'm still not planning on getting an Xbox One right now, mostly because I have a Playstation and I'd like to stick with them. Although Microsoft's tendency to use their money to buy exclusives for insanely popular games might one day change my mind - people have been talking about Fallout 4 being an Xbox One exclusive lately, although they've also pointed out that even if it was you'd probably still be able to get in on PC. But regardless, it's nice to know that Microsoft are actually listening to people, and capable of not being so crazy.

  • I love this girl:

  • Interesting history and the films that are being made based on it.

  • This cartoon about birth control:

In other news, tonight David Platt picked up Becky's sledgehammer. Reason #538 why they should have been friends.

And Despicable Me 2 is out next week. And the week after there's Now You See Me, the film about magician thieves with Dave Franco in it, and The Internship. I feel ambivalent about The Internship, ever since another internet article pointed out there are no films out at the moment in most of America about a woman or a group of women, and I realised it was also true of England, or at least my bit of it from what I could see. And The Internship does like a film about two guys, hanging around with a bunch of other people who are mostly guys, trying to prove they are still worthwhile/man enough to have around. But on the other hand, Vince Vaughn is in it, and seems to be playing a part that doesn't mostly involve being a dick, unlike a lot of his roles nowadays. So I will probably give it a watch after all, if I have time.

So. I had a 'courtesy call' from the Department for Work and Pensions this morning. I have been decided to be capable of some forms of work. How I feel about that )

Anyway. Some happier things include: Slight spoilers for Coronation Street from Friday ). I really liked Scott and Bailey last night, even though sort of spoilers ). And a comedy email newsletter I have been getting for a bit basically justified all the months I have been getting it today, by informing me that the Psychoville finale is on tonight, not on Thursday. I'm really enjoying Psychoville at the moment, especially last week's episode, so I'm glad to have heard about that (although it was on series record anyway, it turned out).

Also, is it my imagination, or did Horrible Histories repeat a sketch they'd already done in Friday's episode? The one with Queen Elizabeth? I'm really sure I'd seen that before, down to being able to predict what happened up to the end of the sketch. Either they've repeated it, I saw some sort of preview somewhere, or I HAVE THE POWER TO SEE THE FUTURE. That's all I can think of.

Also, is it my imagination, or are there tons and tons of new dramas, and detective dramas, coming out at the moment? Maybe I've just not been very into the genre before, and this happens every spring, but my god. There are tons on, and I'm having trouble watching all the ones I like the look of. I watched Vera all the way through, and I would have liked to watch the Shadow Line, but I just don't have the mental room for it alongside everything else I watch. I was sort of interested in Case Sensitive, but again not enough to remember to watch it alongside everything else I was watching. I missed Exile with John Simm as well. I'm watching Scott and Bailey at the moment, have started watching Case Histories, I think new Luther is starting this week, and according to the itv drama preview, they have a couple of new shows on the way, including a new series of Single-Handed. Now, I'm pretty happy about there being a new series of Single-Handed, but I hope at least some of the other series' finish before I start watching that. Seriously. Is it just me, or is this a thing this spring?

I did quite enjoy Case Histories, though. Spoilers )

Oh, oh, it's like someone called God and told him I've been a really good girl this year! I'm not sure I have, but I'm willing to accept the glorious gifts! The only theatre group I really care about (who did that gay dancing a few years ago and are basically in love) are doing a new show in October and November. Not in any towns I am nearby, but I'm sure I can get over that minor obstacle. And they appear to be doing further tours of Sinner in 2007 and 2008, so I can SEE IT AGAIN MAYBE!

And according to the Boosh (under News), their live DVD will be available from November 13th. And they're currently putting together Series 3.

YAY.

So here's some drama. My housemates have broken up.

So that's a bit different from my normal posts, anyway.
girlofprey: (Barty Crouch Jr Crazy Fuck)
Went to Harry Potter again last night. Am almost like a proper fan.

I'm really not sure what constitutes spoilers for this, so I CUT EVERYTHING! )

Things I have decided there really should be:

  • Voldemort/Barty Crouch Jr/Lucius fic

  • Lucius/Barty Crouch Jr/Snape fic

Because omfg. I might start my own Barty Crouch Jr comm. My other comm. seems to be coming along quite well ::admires it:: And I'm sick of looking for one and not finding it, as though he does not deserve such love. Which he does.

I have called Wanadoo and they have been vaguely helpful, amazingly. My flatmate's internet is all sorted now, so it's really just me with the problem. I'm going to try their advice tonight, and hope.

My flatmate is pissed off at me. For a reason I cannot entirely discern. We were on the bus coming back from HP, and joking and laughing, and I mocked her a bit for having a mild Cockney-ish accent, or Southern, or whatever. But exaggeratedly mocked her. To the point where (I thought) I was obviously just beng random and surreal, not mocking her. And she laughed, breathlessly. And then she went quiet for a bit, and when I tried to talk to her, she said she was 'a bit annoyed at me', and then would not talk to me, when I went to apologise. I haven't seen her at all today. I don't think I did anything wrong. Mayber that's worse. It's all very confusing.

Things Eddie Izzard clearly likes:

  • Bees
  • Speedboats
  • James Mason

Which gave me bizarre, deja-vu feelings while watching Unrepeatable. Overall, I think I prefer Glorious, just for it's mad randomness, and his outfit. Things I did like were the advertising bit, the vampire/supermarket survey, and cat's thumbs, for indeed they were genius.

Also, did not realise he was gay. This was revelatory. I knew he was a transvestite, obviously, but I chose not to make judgements about his sexuality based upon it. So hm. And also 'damn!'.

Hannah apparently did not come back to our house with Graeme Monday night, and he was all door-slammy and playing his music loud, so perhaps annoyed. Hmm. Kathy texted Hannah with words of friendliness last night, though, and Jos (I think) texted Graeme, so hopefully all will be well again soon. Although I still have to decide between living with strangers or living far from my beloved town. Double-hmm.

Creative writing magazine people e-mailed me back today to advertise their future issues, it essentially seems, and then a line at the end about maybe they'll use my stuff, they'll let me know. Fingers crossed ::fingers crossed::

Our stray cat apparently does not have a home, for we sent him away last night with a collar on asking 'is this your cat? call this number' and nobody called. This is puzzling, because he is tame and fat and healthy, but...alright. We shall probably begin feeding him more than milk. It is probably just a secret cat ploy to be fed doubly, but we are kind, and human fools, so will comply.

And in Hollyoaks; Lee and Bombhead carry out naked arse inspections, but are not gay. Lee's prejudiced, generall-angry father just accepts this, but they have not come out. Hollyoaks logic is fun logic. Also, Darren is now Ben's bitch and about one whiplash away from being bent over a rowing machine. Exciting. I watch with interest.
