Spare time, yay!
Jan. 18th, 2007 05:04 pmWell, I was supposed to be going to Nottingham tonight, having arranged with the agency to go register tomorrow morning (still no word on that interview, despite having talked to them all day). But since the weather is disrupting all the train routes and frankly, scaring me, I decided to postpone it till the afternoon and go tomorrow. So I have an extra evening of Morrowind and internet. Hurrah. Also vague packing, but probably only of the vaguest kind. I could of course prepare for any interviews I may or may not have over the weekend. THAT WON'T HAPPEN.
(Also, my dad is apparently stuck in London since a tree fell on the train in front of his, and they recalled them both to the station. It's sort of scary and amusing all at once.)
I don't know what my internet access is going to be like from now on. My friends in Nottingham don't have it, but I might be back if nothing comes up, but I should probably stay even if it annoys them to be available for stuff. I could of course move out and get a flat really quickly, but there's no guarantee that will have the internet either. So I might not be around for a while. Thought I ought to say, just in case. Declarations of love or the location of buried treasure are probably best revealed tonight, or on my mobile.
I was going through iTunes so I could upload new stuff, and I appear to be incapable of deleting entire albums. It's pretty much just a mess of songs, ocassionally arranged into very small playlists. On the plus side, I did well enough to get the entire Wicked album uploaded in time for Nottingham. Which is what I was really aiming for. I'm going to be pop-u-lar...
In other news,
strangeumbrella made a big post about Guy/Mac, and it was great. It is lovely when things appear and let you know you aren't the only one. Also, apparently goats faint. Who knew?

Daily roundup
Apr. 2nd, 2006 11:04 pmSigns you probably think too much about fandom:
Nephew was here again. I love him to bits, but it is just so much HARD WORK. He has a seriously short attention span, and gets through toys in a matter of seconds, and if he doesn't want to be picked up wants to be put down, and has developed a nasty habit of toddling over to doors and other hard surfaces and falling against them, so needs to be watched every second, and has some sort of weird alliance with the dog wherein he mostly loves to wander over to the gate (the one keeping the dog out of the living room), and letting the dog lick his face, and pushing things through for the dog to have and bite and savage. Apparently yesterday my mum found her fleecy jacket in the dog's bed, after Jack pulled it down off the chair and pushed it through the gate for the dog to have. And we just sit in the living room, me, my mum and dad and (today) grandma and sister, in a mess of toys and cushions and magazines, watching him and playing with him and having odd, jumpy conversations, with a TV playing in both the kitchen and the living room and the dog whining at the gate and it is just AAAAAARGH. But I don't like staying out of it because it's like shirking my responsibility, and everyone else has to work harder. And I know my sister has to do it all the time. But it just gets a bit much, after a while.
Some things:
- When you think back over The Scorpion King, and decide that yes, it really was that bad, but would be alright if it was Mickey and Danny from Hustle, either as assassin/warrior and "sorceress"/seer or something in Ancient Egypt/wherever, or - even better! - in the world of Hustle, if Mickey was the leader of a gang of yes, grifters, but those who only robbed the dishonest, up against a rival gang who robbed everyone, with the special help of their young, blue-eyed and blond-haired member Danny who is stupendously good at short cons and bullshitting people, who was picked up off the streets as a child by the leader of the Evil Gang for just this purpose, and held there with much emotional abuse, and he does a lot of stuff that gets Mickey into trouble, and almost arrested, until they're in some situation where they're both in trouble, and Mickey gets them out of it with some story that leads to them having to leave together, and hole up in a hotel room to keep up the story, and have lots of angsty arguments and UST and...
And it just keeps going on.

Some things:
- After a lot of wishing and hoping and checking, the 'Wicked' show is indeed coming to London, in September. And now I have to decide whether I actually want to go to it, since I will probably have to go down to London on my own, and book a hotel room in London for afterwards. All things I have never done before. Of course, K lives quite near London, so I could always stay with her. But if she doesn't want to go to the actual show, it seems a bit rude, like I'm just saying 'I want to see this. Can I stay at your house?'. Unless I make a week of it, having never actually been to London before. In all my years as an English person. Hmm. It is tempting. Especially now I'm pretty sure Nights at the Circus's run has finished.
Assuming there are even tickets left, of course. - I still haven't seen episode 1.2 of Green Wing. I am a terrible fan. However, by Tuesday the first and second episode of Life on Mars should be Sky+ recorded, and I can finally watch them and join in all those crazy discussions about the entrance of all the characters, and being fully informed on Sam's Crazy and whatnot. Haha.
- Emmerdale was quite amazing today. Sadie was fed her own horse (hurray for Rosemary! I quite like her), and Matthew ended the episode by telling her to stop weeping over it and shut up, she'd failed at getting them money, and he was going to have to sort it - he wasn't her doormat, or Rosemary's, or his dad's. I quite like forceful!dominant!Matthew. I hope he screws over his family, and eyefucks Carl. I've decided the whole story would be better if he and Sadie were vampires, though. They could invite Carl and Chastity back to live in their house, because they'd have to live in a crypt, and because it's Matthew's house, they could get in, and they'd always have 'standby' victims. And Matthew blatantly wouldn't let Sadie anywhere near Carl's neck, because he doesn't trust her, so he'd have to bite Carl. Which would be gleeful. And now I may write it, I don't know.
- I need some Emmerdale fans on my flist.
- I want to songvid Mac/Guy to Nick Cave's 'The Ship Song'. And UB40's 'I Can't Help Falling In Love With You'. But need to learn to songvid first.
- I want more post from the Internet.
- Yes.

Dec. 3rd, 2005 05:20 pmDear
nerdcakes,
Possibly you already know, but there are brand new Wicked femslash fics, or possibly one long 10-part femslash fic, here. And they seem well-written and everything. Hurrah.
Dear
lilith_morgana,
I wasn't sure if you were still interested after it after seeing the movie, but I actually found a fic somewhere on livejournal that was at least heading in a barty crouch jr/Rita skeeter wrong!sex direction, before she comes to her senses and gets the fuck out of there. I was going to offer you the url, but I sadly can't find it. So I offer a secretlybitter!Dumbledore icon instead. Hurrah?
And having seen the film for the third time last night (for FREE! God bless the radio press pass, and all the abuse possibilities therein), I am mostly squeeing over the idea of all the Durmstrang boys on their ship, adjusting each other's dress robes :D And being watched over, creepily I'm sure, by creepy creepy Karkaroff. And the clear shot of three girls who according to their scarves are gryffindor, hufflepuff and slytherin, happily chatting away together - Slyths are not universally hated, omg!
All of which was much less disturbing than the man in Burger King (it was late and I was hungry, okay?) who was in the ladies bathroom for ages and didn't come out, even when a man in a suit and tie hammered on the door, and the girl on the bus home from the cinema who, from what her boyfriend/male companion was saying was completely wasted on three glasses of wine (and perhaps something else?), and went from not being able to walk in a straight line to slightly comatose throwing up and had to be carried off the bus to the hospital. Yes.

Elphaba/G(a)linda first
Mar. 25th, 2005 12:12 amThere needs to be a 'because' for this? It is verynearlycertainlyyes canon, people! Elphaba made her think! And arranged her dates and then came with her on them! They were room-sharing public schoolgirls, for crying out loud. They had a Moment of 'omg you're actually beautiful' in a dark room while dressing up in hats with a storm beating on the windows outside. G(a)linda was the first one to ever think of her as beautiful, and dropped everything - would have dropped even more - to go with Elphie on her mad, spur-of-the-moment, dead of night quest to see the evil overlord Wizard.
Because G(a)linda fell and Elphie was there to catch her and, omg, the Tragedy of her not being able to do the same. Because Elphaba was hard-headed and stubborn enough to leave, but Glinda certainly had a blast at the wake, tosteal coin a phrase. Because they were two of the most powerful people in the land, but they weren't even thinking about each other, nevermind trying to reach each other. Because Glinda turned and said 'oh, Elphie!' - and Elphaba didn't.
Also, because the fics are well pretty ;)
